Backward River Digital Storytelling Site Launches

The Freshwater Lab, under the guidance of Professor of English and Lead PI Rachel Havrelock, has launched it's digital storytelling site, The Backward River. The site tells the story of the Chicago Waterway System--more commonly known locally as the Chicago River--using text, image, podcasts, and other audio. The Backward River "dramatizes a widespread scenario of crumbling American infrastructure. At its heart rests a basic denial of malfunction, public harm and the disproportionate burdens placed on communities of color."
