Call for Graduate Project Submissions

Fall 2022 DHI Conference

The DHI cordially invites graduate students to submit digital humanities projects to our fall conference, “Recovery & Community: Multiethnic Digital Humanities.” The conference will take place Thursday, September 22, through Saturday, September 24, 2022. We will feature a digital representation of graduate projects (an image, a poster, a website, a video, or any other way of displaying your work) on our conference website.

This year’s conference explores the ways that digital platforms and methods both advance the scholarship on race and ethnicity and connect underrepresented communities, identities, histories, languages, and cultures with scholars, students, and interested publics. Confirmed speakers include Dr. Jessica Marie Johnson and Dr. Roopika Risam, and the event will feature presentations of Black, Latinx, Asian American, Indigenous, and more digital humanities projects.

The UIC DHI conference committee welcomes submissions that explore any aspect of multiethnic DH research. We also encourage scholars at all levels and stages of DH exploration to share their work and experience in the field. Possible topics include but are not limited to:

  • Indigeneity and DH
  • Black DH
  • Opportunities and limitations of digital communities
  • Archival activism and DH
  • Digital Libraries
  • Multilingual DH
  • Sustainable DH
  • Discriminatory algorithms
  • Decolonial or postcolonial digital pedagogy
  • Digital research ethics
  • Text analysis
